Customer Reviews about Dallas City Council:

This Mayor and the City Council for Dallas has ruined the transportation business in Dallas for Shuttle companies, valet and doorman at hotels, rental car companies at airports and also the parking revenue at airports. Mayor Mike Rawlings and the city council along with the airports decision to open up to anyone and everyone, and by making the number of permits issued to drive for hire, UNLIMITED, has had a devastating affect on people who have made transportation their sole source of income and have had long careers driving for a living. DFW Airport has issued over 100,000 permits and this has caused the wait time for a taxi driver to load from 2 hours to now 4 to 6 hours for a single trip. This trip could be as little as $25 and is becoming now normal to get the minimum after having had to wait for so long. Taxi drivers are forced to only work at airports in order to get any business at all because Uber and Lyft keep bringing on more drivers and also more and more drivers for taxi keep coming here to work. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE FOR A TAXI DRIVER TO GO AND MAKE MONEY ANYMORE. Transportation companies and drivers are barely getting by and have seen a 50 to 60 percent loss in income. I would really like to see Mayor Mike Rawlings and the Dallas City Council out here trying to make a living making less than $100 a day before expenses. Even if a driver also drives for Uber and Lyft, there are way too many drivers and you cannot make hardly anything there either. Not only are many people struggling to make a living due the recklessness of the decisions made by the Mayor Of Dallas and the city council, but traffic has become a huge issue at both airports. The roads in downtown and uptown Dallas are in deplorable condition. Every single city and suburb surrounding Dallas takes much better care of their roads. Why does every single taxi driver have to have his vehicle inspected by airport staff for dings and scratches when entering the airport queue while no one holds all other drivers for hire at airports accountable for the condition of their vehicles? Why do taxi drivers have to pay $4 to $5 for every time they load a passenger at DFW airport compared to the $2 that other drivers for hire pay to load at DFW airport? If all of the drivers for hire can profit from passengers at DFW airport, and pay lower tolls with their individual toll tags, why do taxi drivers have to pay twice what they pay and be forced to have their toll tags under a taxi company? January 1, 2016, Texas State House Bill 1733 was enacted into law which mandated higher insurance coverage for anyone driving for a living. There is no one enforcing this law here in North Texas. Recently, Channel 8, WFAA, did a piece at Love Field airport and found many drivers driving for Uber that did not have the required permit or decal and when asked some did not even know that they were supposed to have a permit. I think the people of Dallas should really scrutinize the relationship between Mayor Mike Rawlings and Uber. The reason that so many permits are being issued is because of the ridiculous statement made by Travis Kalanick early on when he said that their should never be a limit to the number of drivers or the number of providers for transportation for hire. Kalanick tried to justify this by saying that most of the drivers had other jobs. However, that statement is muted by the fact that there are thousands of Uber and Lyft drivers available 24/7. Dallas is the only city in the whole United States to make a free for all to airports and intentionally causing such an increase in traffic at the same time causing the financial hardship of so many transportation companies and drivers. Also, there are way more aggressive drivers out on the road at all times. As Long as these members serve on City Council and Mayor Mike Rawlings holds the position as Mayor of Dallas, this situation will only get worse.
